ACTIVITY DETAILS / OUTCOMES |
-The number of beneficiaries planned were expected to be 30 but those met were 33. Among those who turned up were also other women in church & two Elderly women.
-The venue of engagement was at a church; Pajero Christian Fellowship, where the pastors wives from Pajero village, Tororo district met.
-Pastor Semujju introduced the SHFF team to the pastor at Pajero who introduced Mrs. Semujju who is the organization coordinator; she explained the vision, mission & objectives of the project to the pastors wives who turned up.
-The pastors wives welcomed the project with open hands and praised God for at last someone is thinking about taking care of them; indeed they were long forgotten.
-The team shared to the pastors wives that there is need to form a group that can be reached for easy mobilization for empowerment purposes. This means coming up with a regional committee.
- Also noted was the need to involve the pastors children as beneficiaries since they usually lie on the shoulders of the pastors wives for school fees & scholastic materials.
-The beneficiaries requested for self-help projects among the pastors wives groups, capital to start small businesses, and retreats / seminars to empower them improve their self-esteem.
-The organization administrator had time to meet some pastors available who presented a fear that the organization would make their wives rebellious. But after explaining to them the vision, mission, objectives and activities of SHFF, they were overjoyed and welcomed the idea too; they said this came to relieve them of family stress.
- Mrs. Semujju the coordinator, gave an encouraging message to the pastors wives, they then held hands together in a circle and prayed in one accord, raising each other into the hands of God.
- Thereafter, they were served with the sustainability package from SHFF, starting with children and then the pastors wives. Each received a package.
-The team then was served with a meal prepared by the pastors wives and they left for the journey back to Kampala at 3:00PM. |

ANY TESTIMONIES SHARED |
One of the pastors wives confessed that she had stopped washing for the last two (2) weeks because of lack of soap, so a bar of soap given to her was a total miracle.
Onother told the team that pastors wives are always despised at church because they don’t look good, since they don’t have money to take care of themselves, all they get is to ensure that the pastor is well, so she is waiting on any income generating project that can be introduced to them.
Another appreciated SHFF for including the children as beneficiaries, she said her girl had not gone to school for a week for lack of books yet she is in a candidate class (P.7); So the 2 dozens of books was a miracle to the family.
The smiles from the children as the received books, pencils and biscuits could not be hidden, they thanked SHFF for investing in their future. And asked for more of these events at the beginning of terms.
“The Lord is faithful, we have been indeed forgotten for long, may God Bless the heart of Cissy who has birthed this organization of supporting us” Said one of the beneficiaries |

LEARNING POINTS IDENTIFIED |
1. It is ideal to help the pastors wives form groups and have a leadership, it is these that can be used as mobilization structures and also be used for empowerment of the pastors wives.
2. It is also a point to think about women pastors, they go through almost the same or even more challenges as they minister. |
|
12 |
CHALLENGES MET |
1. There were other people who came to the meeting, the elderly women, the other women in the church who all were needy too. So since planned was strictly pastors wives, turning these people away was sorrowful, although they understood.
2. Some of the pastors also were in attendance as every activity was going on; this might hinder the pastors wives to express themselves freely and pray freely, thus empowerment programs may not be very impactful.
3. The journey was a long one, and the car hired was too low to maneuver through the bad roads. Doubled with the high fuel prices; transportation was equally expensive.
4. The organization lacks a personal camera, therefore paying for media services in an expensive venture.
|
|
13 |
MITIGATION POINTS |
1. There is need to be specific and only meet pastors wives, not any other groups.
2. The pastors need to be sensitized about the project, so that they are not in fear for the project team to meet their wives.
3. There is need to buy a high performance car like a double cabin which can go to all weather roads, and also will reduce the cost of car hire.
4. The organization needs a professional camera & a laptop for organization activities information storage. |
|
14 |
NEW IDEAS BIRTHED |
To form pastors women groups at regional levels and have their leadership, atleast a coordinator and a chairperson. This is to help in mobilization and empowerment programs. |
