FROM DUST TO DESK : God’s Mercy Community School in Rakai

Introduction:

At the beginning of this year, we ran a drive to gather desks for God's Mercy Community School in Rakai. Through our collaborative efforts, we were successfully able to raise 50 desks, 3 sleeping mats, and cement a classroom for babies. Additionally, other friends from Uganda joined us in this endeavor, and together we were able to collect 71 pairs of shoes and socks, as well as a wheelchair for a little girl. On Wednesday, 14th February 2024, all these items were delivered to the school, ready to be used by the pupils.

Collecting Desks:

The drive to collect desks for God's Mercy Community School was a significant milestone in our efforts to provide support to underprivileged children. The generous donations made by our supporters enabled us to collect 50 desks, ensuring that every child would have access to a proper learning environment.

Sleeping Mats and Classroom for Babies:

In addition to desks, we were also able to provide sleeping mats and cement a classroom for babies. This initiative aimed to create a safe and nurturing space for the youngest members of the school community, enabling them to receive the best possible care. The sleeping mats provided a much-needed comfort during nap time, while the classroom offered a secure environment for early childhood education.

Collaboration with Friends from Uganda:

The support from our friends from Uganda was invaluable in making this collective effort a success. Their dedication and generosity enabled us to collect 71 pairs of shoes and socks, as well as a wheelchair for a little girl. These items will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the lives of children at the school, providing them with the necessary footwear and support for their daily activities.

Deliveries and Impact:

On Wednesday, 14th February 2024, all the collected items were delivered to God's Mercy Community School in Rakai. The desks, sleeping mats, classroom, shoes, and wheelchair were handed over to the school authorities, ready to be distributed to the children. This generous donation will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the lives of these pupils, providing them with the necessary resources to thrive in their educational journey.
