Mission Day Three: God’s Mercy Rural School

We had a meaningful visit to God's Mercy Rural School, a haven for vulnerable children in the rural village of Rakai District. Our interaction with the students was filled with encouraging words, prayers, and gift-giving. It's worth noting that last year, through our "From Dust to Desk" campaign, we provided the school with desks - a step towards improving their learning environment.

 

However, as the pictures below reveal, there are still several challenges that need to be addressed:

- The school lacks proper classroom structures, which can hinder the learning process.

- Many students attend school barefoot, which can lead to health issues.

- Some students don't have essential learning materials like books and pencils.

- The dusty floor poses a challenge, especially for young learners.

- Additionally, the students often go hungry while at school, highlighting the need for feeding programs.
